Cumbrae Sensory Trail
To ‘bring to life’ Cumbrae Initiative’s idea of the Cumbrae Sensory Trail through integrated communications.
Island community group Cumbrae Initiative wanted to draw people to Cumbrae to discover the whole of the island – not just Millport. They came up with the idea of the Cumbrae Sensory Trail – a marked route around the island’s 11 mile coastline which would offer visitors the chance to experience a special sensory treat.

How we did it
We set off with design and created a strong brand identity for the Trail, sensory point markers in the shape of the island and promotional material incorporating a Trail map. Next we wrote the script for an audio recording which would guide visitors around the Trail. Finally we developed an interactive website, which included podcasts of the audio recording. We managed all liaisons with external suppliers including printers, a specialist engineering company who manufactured and installed the markers and West FM radio studios, where the script was transformed into a 12 minute audio guide with the help of Scottish broadcaster Bill Torrance.
